Say Goodbye to the Volkswagen Beetle: The Final Edition

The last and most recent generation of the Volkswagen Beetle has seen its final days off the production line... for now. Judging by the rising popularity of Crossovers and SUVS it is no surprise Volkswagen announced the end of production of one of Volkswagen's smallest models.Volkswagen Group of America CEO Hinrich Woebcken, in a statement, said there are "no immediate plans to replace it" as the automaker retools to become "a full-line, family-focused automaker in the U.S." and ramps up electrification efforts.

The door is never shut on the Beetle though. Will history repeat itself? As of now there are no plans to re-release the Beetle as an EV. Volkswagen is now proclaimed the I.D. Neo hatchback planned in 2020 will serve as the Beetle for the new EV age.
